Baker Emergency Loan
The Office of Student Affairs in the School of Medicine offers the Frank Baker Memorial Loan Fund, which administers Emergency Loans. Medical Students may take out a $500, $1,000, $1,500, or $2,000 emergency loan. There is no interest, but the loan must be paid back within 120 days of issuance. There is no loan fee due at the time of repayment. Students are allowed to have only one loan outstanding at a time.
Students will need to complete an Emergency Loan Fund Application, which can be obtained from the Office of Student Affairs or requested by contacting the email address below.
Once the application is completed, it must be returned (in person or via email) to the staff in the Office of Student Affairs. It will then be routed to the Office of Developmental Accounting for processing. Staff from the Office of Developmental Accounting will coordinate check pick-up and repayment of the loan with the student.
To request an application, please email SOM-studentaffairs@umc.edu.
